You know the saying “now you see it . . ..now you don’t”?
Well, how about the opposing idea? Now don’t see it . . .now
you do”? And that’s how Continental Ranch came into being.
Homes, churches, shops, stores, restaurants and businesses were there
almost overnight. Instant city.
Continental Ranch is what is known as a Master Planned Community.
Kind of like the way a magician places a cloth over a table and when
he removes it, the table is completely set, even down to the salt
and pepper shakers. It’s located in Marana northwest of Tucson
and near the north end of the Tucson Mountains which are featured
dramatically in many of our sunset photos. Look for Sombrero Peak
as you admire the rugged skyline.
According to the Tucson MLS, Continental Ranch homes for sale range
from about $100,000 to over $300,000 and are one and two story single
family residences. Continental Ranch is made up of a large diverse
group of people from retired folk, many of whom live in the Sunflower
subdivision which is for 55 and over, to singles just starting out
on their own to families with needs for children. All have contributed
to the wonderful mix that makes the community work so well.

Youth sports are big in Continental Ranch. Pools, parks, soccer and
other sports are available. The community is proud to have one of
Tucson’s few skateboard parks. Shopping centers, theaters and
restaurants complete the picture of a vibrant community and a comfortable
place to live.
Until recently, the drive into Tucson was a serious problem as the
area was growing faster than the roads could be improved. Currently
the state is winding down a several year I-10 expansion and improvement.
New bridges are being put in as well as improved roadway arteries
leading to the freeway. The Twin Peaks interchange and the bridge
over the Santa Cruz River will be completed in late 2010 or early
2011. This will give easy access to the north end of Continental
Ranch.
