STATE MUSEUM
Learn of the many cultures that have lived in Arizona as well as northern
Mexico through programs and exhibitions as well as the extensive library.
These factions are considered by many to be the best in the world for
people studying the people of the southwest.
The Arizona State Museum is a highly respected research museum and
is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution. It is the oldest anthropology
museum in the southwest and has been in existence since 1893.
The museum is part of the Save America’s Treasures in the Pottery
Project.
One of the best programs the museum sponsors is the Culture Craft
Saturdays program which is held the second Saturday of each month. This
family program offers sales of southwestern pottery, demonstrations
by the craftspeople and opportunities to work with some of the artists
and even create your own clay pot.
The museum is located at 1013 E. University Blvd. They can be reached
at 520-621-6302.
