This lovely 70-year-old theater is located in Tucson’s cultural
center and usually plays to a full house. More than 40 events and 90
performances took place in 2002.
Centennial Hall is the scene of a vast and varied selection of the
arts. From the tried and true to the most modern and beyond, people
have enjoyed performances from around the world. From The Academy of
Ancient Music to a week of Cabaret to a splendid evening with the Boys
Choir of Harlem, anyone interested in cultural offerings has attended
something in Centennial Hall.
In 1994, Centennial Hall's budget was $1.2 million with a staff of
about 10. About 50,000 tickets were sold. In year 2000, there is a staff
of 25 and a budget of $6.1 million. More than 150,000 tickets were sold.
Two-thirds of the hall's budget comes from ticket sales.
As Tucson grows, so does the perspective of the events played at Centennial
Hall. Tucson is such a patchwork of backgrounds that people tend to
be open to new types of culture as well as the standard.
Centennial Hall on the University of Arizona is located on campus at
