El Tour De Tucson
This cyclist event is the largest perimeter event in the country and brings thousands of people to Tucson from many countries and in many stages of ability. One of our sons, his wife and their son have ridden in The Tour several times. Their delight is being able to do something that benefits others and spend the day doing something as a family. It is the need to help charitable causes that created this event in the first place.
With over 5500 people riding, it is not a day to drive around the outskirts of our city. Thanks to our weather and lovely scenery, people are drawn to the challenge every year.
The full course is 111 miles long. It is well controlled and there are many rest stations along the way. If that is just a bit too much, there are 75, 50 and 30 mile runs as well.
El Tour de Tucson has raised nearly $2 Million Dollars for Charities in its first 14 years! It is not just good for the riders, it is good for those who benefit from their efforts.
