This historic house that was originally built by the Sosa family in the 1870’s is located in the complex that houses the Tucson Community Center.  It was named after three of its prominent occupants.

It is hard to imagine how the house looked when it was built as today iit is nestled in among tall buildings and the rush and bustle of a large city’s downtown center.

Leopoldo Carrillo bought the house from the Sosa family.  He was one of the richest men in Tucson, owning a bowling alley, an ice cream parlor, a saloon and feed stable as well as over one-hundred homes.  He lived in the house until John C, Fremont, the famous explorer and frontiersman who had been appointed Governor of the Arizona Territory from 1878 to 1881, bought it for his daughter to live in.

As a museum, the house features exhibits describing how Tucson’s pioneer families lived.  There are rooms with period furnishings as well as special exhibits and a museum gift shop.  
Often this in the jumping off place for walking tours of Tucson’s downtown historic areas.  Additionally lectures and special activities are often scheduled.
