Looking for a place to spend a quiet few hours?  Tohono Chul Park is designed to educate, influence and relax visitors who come to the 49 acre park.  The Geographic Traveler has listed the park in the top 22 of the Secret Gardens in the US and Canada.

There are winding trails through gardens and natural areas.  View the Sundial Plaza, the Alice C. Herman Garden for Children where children can sail wooden boats down the stream, hunt for the turtles hiding in the stream or play in the vine teepees, the Sin Agua Garden (“Without Water”) sound interesting?  There’s much more such as the Sonoran Seasons Gardens which will exhibit plants during their peak season, the Spanish Colonial Gardens, the Desert Living Courtyard which invites the visitors to see how desert plants are used in ten different garden settings all with water conservation in mind.  As you walk, look at the designs in the pathway and you will see the park logo which is the rattlesnake.

Part of the goal of the park is to educate the visitors about the plant and animal life in the Sonoran Desert.

There are self guided tours as well as guided tours.  Add to this, the exhibits, Park's Exhibit House is a charming, restored adobe building built in 1937.  Baskets, rugs, blankets, pottery and paintings are some of the art on exhibit.  Our local population covers diverse ethnic and cultural styles much of which are shared in these exhibits.

Shop in the museum shops and top of the visit with breakfast, lunch or tea in the delightful Tea Room which is in a lovely Spanish-Colonial home, the West House, with its plant-filled courtyard and welcoming patio is home to the Tohono Chul Park Tea Room.
