TUCSON
BOTANICAL GARDENS
Did you know that Tucson is not your average desert city? Did you know
that plants actually grow here? They even thrive!! If you want proof
of this and to learn just what grows here, you owe it to yourself to
check out the Tucson Botanical Gardens located at 2150 N. Alvernon Way.
It is a unique spot. 5 acres that is divided into 15 areas of specialty
gardens with over 4,200 individual plants. Included in these gardens
is a historical garden with plants that have been native for hundreds
of years, a garden designed to attract butterflies and, of course, there
is a cactus garden.
People are often amazed at how decorative a cactus garden can be and
how easy it is to care for. These areas as well as others will bring
delight to even the most passive gardener and will give the active gardener
ideas for starting or improving their own gardens.
If you don’t believe you can have a garden in Tucson, stop by
and take a look. It may change your life as well as the look of your
home.
Bring your lunch. There is a picnic area.
Other than major holidays, the gardens are open every day from 8:30
a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
