THE TUCSON MUSEUM OF ART

For over 25 years, the Tucson Museum of Art has been gaining prominence as an excellent center of art of the Americas dating from 500 B.C. There are nearly 6,000 items in the collection that continues to grow through benefactors from around the country.

The permanent collection is made up of pre-Columbian items; Spanish colonial, post colonial and folk art; western American art and artifacts and 20th-Century European and American art.
The hundreds of paintings, sculpture and vessels are among the items that are beautifully displayed.

If you are looking for particular information, you may go to their library where you can access the extensive slide collection as well as the computer’s large databases. Additional resources are available for art research.

A mini-museum in itself, the Museum Shop that is located on the lobby level is filled with the works of Arizona crafters and artisans. It is an excellent place to find gifts and collectibles.
After spending a few hours wandering, looking and shopping, you may feel the need to satisfy the inner self. If so, the Café a la C’Art is ready with a mouth watering lunch menu complete with sandwiches, soups and salads as well as scrumptious desserts.

All in all, you can spend as short or as long a time as you wish but the Tucson Museum of Art is a place not to miss. And don’t forget to look into taking a tour of the Historic Block which is in the same area.
