Wine Vinyards
DID YOU KNOW ARIZONA GROWS EXCELLENT WINES?
Arizona offers more surprises than the casual tourist would know.
Suddenly you may find yourselves driving past what looks very much like vineyards.
Do not be fooled... that is exactly what you are seeing.
From Kingman to Nogales
and many places in between,
wine has become a true industry.
The blessings of mother nature have created the perfect atmosphere to grow wine grapes.
And grow them they do.
More than half of the active wineries are
located in Southern Arizona mainly in the eastern part of the state. Two of the wineries are located in the Vail area which is in the Tucson Valley directly east of Tucson. They are:
Dark Mountain Brewery & Winery
formerly R.W. Webb Winery
PO Box 669, 13605 E. Benson Hwy, Vail, AZ 85641
Phone: (520) 762-5777 Fax: (520) 762-5898
Hours: Mon-Sat 10am-6pm; Sun Noon-6pm
Tours: yes; Tasting: yes
Not a lot of online information is available about Dark Mountain but if you’re visiting Tucson, it is a super easy place to visit. We would recommend that you call ahead in case hours have changed.

This winery is intriguing in that it was started by Mr. Cox
when he was in his 60’s.
By himself he planted the beginning of his vineyard.
Even now it is not huge yet, from all we could find out, the wine is excellent.
